How do we create a space post Covid that will benefit the city of Detroit? That is how The Cork Drive-In was created.
“The Cork Drive-in will be a flexible safe option for locals and visitors to escape their everyday lives with entertainment while enjoying Detroit classic foods like Detroit style pizza, and coney dogs. Guests are able to choose how they would like to dine with the option of traditional indoor dining, drive-in dining, bar dining, picnic style outdoor dining, and takeout, which all include aspects of entertainment of live music and movies. With the rich history of Corktown and its Irish descent, the drive-in will also include a small indoor retail space embracing the Irish cultural tradition of arts. This space will sell literature, film, music, and Detroit classics like Sanders candy, Better Made chips and faygo. The benefit this will bring to Detroit is a new way of dining that will work with the future of possible health restrictions, and continue to give humans the social interaction they need, while still being safe.”
The goal of the 100,000 square foot wellness center is to aid in the process of rehabilitation for a wide variety of people and conditions. It will take 2,467 patients a day and consist of four different rehabilitation wings which will be neurology, cardiac, pulmonary, and pediatric. It will be open 8 hours daily for 5 days a week. The unit will evoke positive first impressions as well as leave a lasting impression on the guests. The design will promote motivation through biophilic design, a bright color scheme and bold patterns. Natural light will be available in many of the spaces to aid the biophilic design and also help in the well-being of the patients.
It will be located in Albury, Australia which is located in between Sydney and Melbourne. This location will attract people who are not close enough to a main city to retrieve treatment.
